I've always been a craft enthusiast - and also have a love of nature and natural yarns and fabrics. My Mum's favourite quote from my childhood to embarrass me with others was when I said "Mummy, I love nature!" Wherever possible I try to use natural products. I'm also a firm believer in quality - as my Nan used to say, cheap is dear! I'd much rather have (and produce) a quality product which lasts, rather than something that falls apart after five minutes.
When I was younger my main loves were cross-stitch and Mum and I spent many happy hours selling dried flower arrangements and later Victorian decoupage products at craft fairs. Although my Nan tried to teach me to knit, I wasn't very good at it (and also not very interested!)
How times have changed... I now love knitting, crochet and sewing - I still consider myself as a newbie in all three of these areas, but I make up for that with enthusiasm!
In my 'real' life I'm a Nurse and volunteer with Alzheimers Support in Wiltshire. I'm quite a spiritual person but with a very geeky nature and a love of science (and of course Professor Brian Cox!) and my main companion at present is my cat Ella who is a law unto herself. I'm sure many of my future posts will include our daft home-life stories!
